we had our identity stolen last year, and some lucky mystery person got our tax refund. That wasn't Adobe's fault, but things are too out of control all over for adobe to continue to implement a system that compromises its user base.

Thankfully, I have never purchased anything from Adobe directly so they had no credit card info for me. Sorry to hear about folks who are getting hit with this.
Im sorry to hear that your card info has been stolen. Mine was too, i dont know if it was part of the Adobe hack but it happend very few days after the annoncement of the hack.
I was more lucky than you were, my bank saw that someone took 1 usd cent from my card, just to check if my card was active, and the bank closed my card immediately and contacted me. They could also see that after the card was closed that
there was someone trying to use it in a hotel in Las Vegas, and im in Denmark, so it of course couldnt be me :-D. I got a new reissued card in a few days, free of charge.
So i also will like Stephen advise all who have bought stuff directly from Adobe to change their card, or at least be check up on the activity on the bank account the next many months.
Its easy to say that your account wont be one of the misused when there is so many accounts and cardnumbers stolen, i did think the same way once. But now it has happened twice for me, this time seemingly after the Adobe hack, and another
time after the Playstation Store hack a couple of years ago, that time i lost about 5000 DKK. That money loss was though covered by my bank.
We apparently cant trust the big, or small, companies to have their security in order :-(

credit card or a debit card
It was a debit card unfortunately so right now those funds are gone until the bank credits them back.
I told a couple of people to hold checks I just wrote L I guess it’s good thing I’m launching a
Kickstarter soon J

Really sorry to hear this Stephen. I hope you aren't put in too much of a hardship because of it.
Not that it is a huge difference, but was the card you were using a credit card or a debit card? I used my business account bank card (debit) for my account and I'd hate to find it all drained from something like this.
I was going to post this earlier, but I didn't want to raise anyone's paranoia levels.
I found a forum at anon news dot org where people were discussing a file called users.tar.gz. basically a 9Gb zip file with everyone's info. The email addresses were plaintext listed next to encrypted password info. Not sure what else was in it, as this
was just from a copy paste from one of the anonymous users.
The discussion was about how to list them properly to feed them into a brute force decrypting program. Others were talking about how they could download the file from that "bay" torrent site.
Anyway, I'm really sorry to hear this has affected you, and I would just caution everyone out there that this sort of disbursement of information could possibly last a while as that info is out there and people can choose to use it and decrypt it whenever
they like. Could be tomorrow or a year from now.
I'll be calling my bank tonight to get my card canceled and another issued.
Okay, I just got my letter a few days ago and was going to get one of credit monitoring services this weekend, but too late, my card was already obviously out in the wild. About
$1000 of charges to Electronic Arts and comic stores (insert stereotypical hacker joke here). Not fun for a starving filmmaker literally in the process of launching a Kickstarter in a couple of days
L
I would advise all who had a credit card number with Adobe no matter if you got a letter or not – to cancel the card. It’s a hassle but not as much as hassle as this.
Needless to say, this is a bummer – but let me example prevent others here from suffering the same.
