doh...!!!
Dead simple when i figured it out.

Just use the built in expression function LookAt, but put in the camera position and its target into the fromPoint and atPoint instead of the layers own position and the camera position.
Of course i figure this out soon after i had sent the mail before after having struggled with way too complex expressions :-D

just a head-up to anyone that might find this useful info :-)

Hi

I cant seem to get my head around something that ougth to be quite simple.

How can i have a 3d layer orient in the same direction as a camera, and not look at the camera as the built in function does, im trying to have the layer point in the same parrallel way as the direction of the camera to its target.

I think i need to get the vector from the camera to its parent and somehow use that in the orientation on the layer i want to rotate?
I have also tried to parent a null to the camera, and tried to get the de-parented orientation of the null and link that to the layer, but i neither can get that to work in any useful way.

i guess im a bit lost on how to get this to work. This 3d rotation stuff i have never really gotten figured out.

Any one out there with some good hints?

- Robert
