for your own personal cloud ,
you can easily setup an old machine with some linux
(lubuntu ie ) , and owncloud .

it's mature now and you have imho something more futureproof

or freenas with a bunch of drives in zfs is a nice solution too,
it can handle backups more often

perhaps i'm off topic ,though
