I don't think that the default makes that much of a difference. In theory, you set them once, and then don't have to worry about it.
BUT… I've noticed since working on Ae CC, my preferences reset themselves often. My output and render modules vanish, my cache disk locations set to a folder I didn't designate.
And this may be related or entirely different, but I can't get any of my settings to be either saved to, or retrieved from the "cloud."
So, getting the prefs to "stick" is more important to me than what the defaults are.
PS. Digital Rebellion Pro Maintenance Tools are invaluable for Pr. I'm not a paid endorser either.
