There is a check box, and once you get burned you learn to look for it, but I agree—I really hate opt-out things like that.

I know this isn't an AE post but I don't subscribe to any Flash lists.
 
So, the latest Flashupdate installed MacAfee Scan Plus (or some such), and I did not even notice an option to opt out. This is bad practice, Adobe (waggles finger).
