Ok, than= k you all for the quick help.
In the long term, it would be great to ha= ve something like:
- by default new/duplicated layers get a unique name
- if yo= u manually rename them to the original name, a confirm message (with an &qu= ot;don't show this again") informs you about what side effects thi= s will have.

12.1 added "copy with property links&q= uot; so now when use that feature it makes sure that there arent two layers= with the same name

Hi every= one,

I just tried to create two layers with the same nam= e (say "Test") but AE disallows it and automatically renames the = second one "Test 2". Even if I try to explicitly rename it to &qu= ot;Test" again.

Why is this and is there any way to avoid this behavior= ? With CS6 it works fine.

I did some scripts for a= client that need some layers have the same name.

cheers,
