It's a sequence. So it's the names of the rendered files that are needing to be all the same. Having them come from different comps won't solve the rendering to same name problem. For some reason ae doesn't realize that it will be using frame numbers at the end of each file so it won't be overwriting the same files.

Why not make duplicates of your composition and render each "work area" with the appropriate frame range for each composition?

Anyone know how I could select certain frame ranges across a long comp and set them all up in a render queue? As a PNG sequence.

What I mean is,  I need to render frames 272-500 and frames 762-914 and then 1543-1700.

I figured multiple entries in the render queue would be fine,  but AE doesn't like having multiple render items with same names (even if they will have different frame numbers appended to them)

I couldn't even just deactivate the other ones. I had to remove them completely for my first range to start rendering.
