Use it all the time. When I design graphics for the CG (chyron) , I do it all in a full resolution comp. When I'm done, I use RoI to render out a file that is just the size of the visual objects needed from the comp. It helps me make the rendered files as small as possible to reduce memory usage in the CHyron unit.
