A trick that's worked for me sometimes is to add a null in the center, parent everything to that, then scale up. Also sometimes I've made everything a 3d layer, added a camera, and zoomed in.
But I've never seen that script, can't wait to try it. Probably would have saved me a lot of trouble over the years!
