The Mac Pro base price is higher than it was, but keep in mind that the iMac has been pushed considerably higher spec than it used to be, so the Mac Pro had to up-spec as well to avoid too much overlap. My main gripe with it so far is 1GB Ethernet only. I might buy one, but at this stage, the biggest threat to Apple/OS X is probably EC2.
