| I already partially answered this, Anders. I get some of my corporate colors as RGB values, with no hex values supplied.
Another of my main uses for the color picker is to legalize colors. Most of the logos I get are EPS files, and the colors are illegal for broadcast.
I was wondering which is the right method to legalize colors. I often use the Brightness control, but wonder if that's proper.
Seems to me there are three options, using HSL / HSB:
1. Lower the Brightness/Luma value (This changes the color towards black.) 2. Lower the Saturation value (This changes the color towards white.) 3. Lower the Brightness and Saturation in equal values (This changes the color towards gray, and is harder to calculate if H doesn't equal B before changing it.)
Jim,
Like David, I use the hex box all the time as it’s the fastest way to copy
values between different software like for example between AE/PS and within
AE.
A single Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V.
Not sure why you would want to sit and copy for example individual RGB
values as it’s a waste of time?

I use the hex box very often in the same fashion for getting values copy
and pasted from time to time. Handy to paste one value instead of three
individual RGB ones.

Is it just me, or does anybody else think it's curious that Adobe would
make a change like "the hex code field is highlighted" to address the concerns
of ONE Ae user?
I use HSB or RGB values. I never use hex values, and I'm guessing
that goes for a vast majority of users. Maybe I'm wrong. This
isn't going to spoil the Ae experience for me, and will be a nuisance
hereafter (I now have to click Tab five times to highlight the Hue field.),
and not a deal-breaker. It's a small thing in the grand scheme.
Again, Todd K., I'm not complaining about you, and I'm glad that the Ae
team is being responsive to user requests. In this case, Peter's not
annoyed any more - good for him, but what about the rest of us? We've
been told features get implemented by a majority of requests. Adobe has
pretty much undermined that claim by revealing that they made a change to suit
one user.
