It sounds like a graphics card issue to me. Make sure that you’ve got the most recent drivers for your graphics card.

This is probably suited for Todd but if anyone else has experienced this, I appreciate the help. I keep getting what I've been referring to as an epileptic fit with AE. That seems the best way to describe it. Every once in a while (too
often) it just starts this spasming and flickering where I see all of the other windows showing through as it flickers. I've never lost anything due to this but it goes for like a full minute or more sometimes before it stops.
Any thoughts on what could cause this? I purge my memory probably way more than necessary, thinking that might help but it doesn't.
I'm running windows 8 and it's done it quite a bit and more so since the recent update to 8.1.
