speaking of woody allen and showing up... reminds of this funny story
my dad was in session with woody allen cutting some parts that were going to be used in Annie Hall.
during the session woody decides to write a scene in to the film of the edit session.
the next day the trucks and crew show up and they are shooting the scene. while the scene made the final version, unfortunately my dads lines were cut. but you see the back of his head like a true editor lol

so there is something about showing up :)

Sure.  Given the choice, who wouldn't?

Woody Allen is purported to have said that "90% of life is showing up."  If my agency client drives for 40 minutes to supervise the session, my request to be accommodated might not find much appreciation.  Most situations are different.

But, again, I agree with you in general, Carey.  If you can do that and keep your clients happy, congratulations, you're in a nice place.

That sounds like the kind of thing I would remote in for. More often than not, that can work, at least in my experience.

That depends on the situation, Carey.  For example, I've worked on projects for a few days, and it goes to the review committee.  Client comes back and says they have "one little change."  So, that puts us in the position of playing hardball, and demanding half-day pay for 15 minutes work, or maintaining good client relations, and being reasonable.
