One thing to keep in mind is that an H.264 .mov isn't quite the same as a H.264 .mp4. You can convert between them in QT Player or other utilities without re-compressing.
On the other hand you can just relabel between H.264 .mp4, .f4v and .m4v files.
Is .h264 a valid extension?
