Here's an obscure one when working with img sequences. You can find out the frame number/file name of the currently selected image by pressing cmd shift e and it will appear in the info pallette
When using the paint or root rush you can use 1 and 2 keys on the keyboard with your left hand to advance and go back a frame.
Opt cmd bn will set the work area to the current selected layers in and out
