Easy yes, but too many clicks involved for something that should just open. :)

I may have to find/build a PS script to automate that process. I'm sure I'm not the first one to hit this wall.

i generally open them in ps first, which allows you to choose pages in a multipage doc, and then save them as a psd (or whatever.) layer the pages in a psd and import in ae as a comp, easy as pie.
