I've always found colorama to be a bit fiddly and difficult to use. I used to use Image Lounge color map but I don't think they make it anymore.
If you only need 3 colors you can use tritone... otherwise I think colorama is your only option.

Hi guys.
would you be kind enough to recommend a matching counter part
for photoshop's gradient map adjustment layer? 

I looked online and and found post that recommend Colorama
but the results are very different and it feels like an overkill (after numerous tweaks of course)
how should I convert this simple linear gradient
like this using this monster...?

it seems that if you are planning to do a color grading and move
later to after effects that you should avoid completely the use
of gradient maps because you would have to create it from scratch
am I right or am I right?
