If you are new to this, keep in mind that you will need to match the distortion when you drop in your 3D. There are various methods for this out there and most 3D tracking apps have this kind of feature. After Effects does have optics compensation plug-in but has minimal parameters. Stabilized by onboard Zen= muse gimbal and default Warp Stabilizer settings.  Shot on cloudy day&= hellip;was just a test shot. Exported a low quality. My first with the new gimbal.   Seem good enough for tracking? GoPro Hero 3+.

As Chris mentions, drone footage can produce motion = blur (or undesirable camera motion). First you will probably want to stabil= ize/smooth your footage.

Most likely markers are not needed for aerial footag= e and most of the 3D trackers will be able to handle basic moves. <= /u>

Since this is your first 3D project, I would recomme= nd relatively simple moves. You can run into issues with full 360 rotations= , etc.

Lastly, the 3D camera solver module found in mocha A= E v3 & mocha Pro v3 was designed as an alternative to feature based 3D = trackers and excels on out of focus or blurred footage. It does not "r= eplace" Syntheyes or PFtrack for feature depth, but may be an easier to learn workflow for newer users.

There is a 15 day trial to help you test it out and = here are some tutorials: http://www.imagineersystems.com/videos?tagFilter=3D3D+Camera+Solve+Module&a= mp;sortBy=3DNewest

Using it on some hand held footage just to test it out it has worked ok = good. But each time i wanted to use it on real projects it has failed to gi= ve me acceptable results, and have gone back to Syntheyes, that tracks way = faster and more accurate, and the camera generated is much closer to the real camera move.

So my advice would be to try the built in first, but do have a backup pl= an to either purchase another 3dtracker (maybe the multi versatile Mocha Pr= o with the camera tracker would be better than standard AE even?) and learn= the basics of that or hire a guy/girl with access to one to do the track for you.

Robert

Helle people,

I will start a exciting motion tracking assignment in a week.

The footage will be shot by a Drone. We will film a large open field where<= br> there eventually be 3D buildings.

So some motion tracking and some 3D work.

Would the 3D camera tracker inside of AE be sufficient or should I try an o= ther one?

And do I need tracker markers on the field?

I am new at this and every tip is very welcome.

Cheers,
Anthony
