As Benny mentioned, I would simply just animate with 3D stroke to get the path of the object in question. Hey Sean,

You can change your "Dis= play" settings for showing it's keyframed path here:
Edit -> Preferences -> Display

Once here, just click on the "All KeyFrames" radial button.

As Benny mentioned, I would simply just animate with 3D= stroke to get the path of the object in question.
