What about working with higher resolution (e.g. 4k) files? Theoretically the 6 GB in the Titan should make that a lot less painful(?)

Robert, from my own experience, the gtx titan is not signifigantly faster than the gtx 570. In fact a better upgrade would be to a gtx 580 with 3gb. You would not have to upgrade to mavericks (which really isnt a huge update anyway) and the gtx 580 actually is faster than the titan for CUDA processing.

The benefit of the titan is that it can drive four monitors and has much better openGL performance. The main benefit woukd be in gaming and 3d viewports for c4d and maya.

I have both cards in two workstations and have seen this empirically.

I should explain more clearly -

Yes the 570 we have is a CUDA card - I am looking to upgrade to a Titan,
which apparently requires 10.9.x Mavericks to function at all.  I have
been Googling around for information on how well AE and PPro are working
on Mavericks and wanted to check here also.
