my .02 is 2gb is the min Vram you should consider. 4gb is probably better and about all most folks will need for a while, until of course the next big thing arrives and wants even more :/ !
CUDA in PP isn't working the card too hard. the original Q4800 had only 192 cores / 1.5gb and did pretty well.
AE raytracing OTH will take all the cores you've got.
PP and AE work fine on 10.9
