I find path length and/or file name issues to often be the culprit to colle=
ct and import failures.

If possible try to make sure source can collection destinations are as clos=
e to root as possible and/or look for potential file naming issues. For som=
e reason I've seen AE, especially older versions, import a file just fine b=
ut then fail to collect it out due to file name truncation or character iss=
ues.

Yuck, I feel your pain. Similar issue here, I believe image sequences are i=
nvolved, but I'll double check. I was trying to help narrow down a culprit,=
 and that's nearly impossible with so many files in a project.

Unfortunately I often have problems with big projects and image sequences. =
I'm working on a big one now, AE project file is approaching 100 meg, overa=
ll duration is 5 minutes and there's 200 gig of pre-rendered image sequence=
s. Collect files seems to hang. Can't work out if AE has actually crashed o=
r if there's so much data that it will take a week for it to work.  I think=
 it's the image sequences that do it, but my project has several thousand i=
mported items so maybe it just can't cope...
I ended up doing it manually.
