| When you say "fail" what error do you get ? I have had an issue many times in CS5.5 days and fixed the issue with a simple script. Basically the problem comes when you import other AE projects into AE. AE keeps the folder structure of the imported files intact and puts that in a sub folder. So, if you import an AE file into that is called "phil_test_project_v011.aep" then AE will create a folder in the project with that name, save that an import that into another file and you can imagine the folder structure gets deep. This is not a problem when working but when you collect files, AE is nice enough to respect all the folders and subfolders so it creates these huge path names that exceed the limit. My script simply looped through every piece of footage in the project and put into a top level folder named either "comp" or "footage". Running this before collecting files fixed all my issues.
