Do you happen to be working with image= sequences with long file names?

The issue th= at you are describing sounds familiar. Just recently, I had to shorten most o= f the image sequence file names in the Finder with Renamer, relink in the or= iginal project and then collect files again. I was able to go through the co= llect files process with the longer names, but the collected project would e= rror out on the image sequences with long file names (but not the QuickTime f= iles nor the one image sequence that had a short file name). With short imag= e sequence names, the collected project opened as expected.

I have had= an issue many times in CS5.5 days and fixed the issue with a simple script.=

Basically the problem comes when you import other A= E projects into AE.

AE keeps the folder structure o= f the imported files intact and puts that in a sub folder.

So, if you import an AE file into that is called "phil_test_project_= v011.aep" then AE will create a folder in the project with that name, save t= hat an import that into another file and you can imagine the folder structur= e gets deep.

This is not a problem when working but= when you collect files, AE is nice enough to respect all the folders and su= bfolders so it creates these huge path names that exceed the limit.

My script simply looped through every piece of footage in t= he project and put into a top level folder named either "comp" or "footage".= Running this before collecting files fixed all my issues.

It's a really simple script but I'm happy to share it if needed.

Phil
