I got the guy I was working with to provide me with his illustrator scenes at twice the size of my AE comp. I'd import and scale all layers to 50% to fit my comp. That way I had some flexibility for scaling in and avoiding collapse transformations unless I really had to use it. Maybe get him to work at 200% or is it too late?
