| I wonder if the "scale comp" script that is bundled with AE would help.
If you scale it by 50% then your layers would only be 25,000 px in Z which might be more manageable.
The downside is that it would actually change the comp size for rendering too, maybe you could run the script then change the comp size back to what it should be.
You would then need to tweak your camera to make it work.
Maybe worth a shot.
