I think the problem is with the instinct to zoom out the magnification ratio and not the actual viewport camera
thats where look at selected/all layers come in handy. (for Teddy)

hey Stephan could you share what exactly is a petapixel?
is that an actual term?

I've tried googling and its refers a site by that name and not a definition.

50,000 Pixels in Z-Space is nothing (for me). I have projects where I have to use 2000mm camera to match spacecraft camera and routinely use larger distances. If fact I’ve tested in AE up to “petapixels”.

I’ve not seen viewport problems with this.

A film is – or should be – more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what’s behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later.

Working in a massive 3D fly-through, once I start placing layers at 50,000 pixels in z-space (don't ask), I can't even zoom in to the layers from the top orthographic view, making items almost impossible to select without using the layer timeline. If I zoom all the way out I can sort of see each layer but can't pan the view with spacebar either.

Other than setting up the project better from the start, is there any remedy to this?
