| Thanks a lot for the quick help, Satya!
Do you mean the version number is not available via scripting or not represented in the project at all? Is it more or less the default that new versions of plugins are not backwards compatible or does this happen rather rarely? In case V1 and V2 of a plugin are not compatible but have the same matchname, is it possible at all to install both versions in parallel on the same machine?
Looking forward to meet you at NAB :-)
Cheers, Mathias
Hello Mathias,
That’ll be tricky. The "Match Names" don’t change with a new version, so you can get them from project files. But, the version numbers are not accessible from the project file.

Hi everyone,
I need to automatically check for AE projects whether all required plugins are installed.
I can collect the match names of all effects used in the project and compare them with the installed ones (available in app.effects). But what about version numbers?
Is there any way to get the version number of the effects used in the project (and also of the ones that are installed)? Or does the matchname change whenever a new version of a plugin is incompatible with an older one?
Cheers, Mathias
