They sold it to another company, they didn't kill it off like Softimage. They sold it to Trimble Buildings, a construction technology company. Google wisely sold it to someone in the industry where most of it's users are.

Google dumped SketchUP? Thats news to me. I use the free version of SU which I updated just recently, and my wife - an interior designer - uses the pro version all the time. SU is going nowhere for a while for us.

I thought it was a shame that Adobe never purchased SketchUp., even as a modeler for Photoshop and AE. Instead Google bought it, and then subsequently dumped it.
It's a great modeler (for simple things anyway).

People said that is why AD originally bought SI - to keep it from Adobe.
