Thank you everyone for the advice. I’m going to move to Mountain Lion. Mavericks is fine on my laptop, but it was a nightmare when it came to the new Apple Mail, especially regarding Gmail (I manage several email accounts, and Gmail is a big one).
Wish I didn’t have to update at all, but we live in interesting times.
