My film for IMAX and giant screen “In Saturn’s Rings” just a got a call from IBM’s ad agency this morning – they want a few shots for inclusion in commercials to run during the Masters.
I’ve licensed stuff a couple of times before for one-time, limited, onscreen bug use, but never for broadcast global commercial. I’ve said no, very painfully to PBS and BBC who wanted to buy it as royalty free for 5 figures and up.
Not sure what I should charge for this. Details I know so far is they want a few short shots non-exclusive for in perpetuity (which I’m inclined to say no to) although they will consider 1 and 5 year terms.
Any hard real world numbers people have seen would be appreciated.

A film is – or should be – more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what’s behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later.
