I only give a coin to= ss of going through anyway - what happened when BBC and PBS approached a c= ouple of years ago as well as a Discovery Channel last year is once it went= to the higher ups, they want basically an in-perpetuity stock footage lice= nse which is not an option (well unless they are offering millions :) so t= hey both passed. stephen van vuuren 336.202.4777 http://www.insaturnsrings.com/ http://www.sv2dcp.com/ http://www.sv2studios.com/ A film is - or should be - more like music than like fiction. How much to charge IBM for footage? Stephen did say it was non-exclusive. But under consideration were perpetua= l, 1 year and 5 year terms. Stephen, I'm not entirely certain of my thoughts, but based on what I know = and the practical realities of negotiation, I'd be inclined to say no to pe= rpetual, but not be afraid of 5 years (honestly they'll totally move on aft= er a year or so anyway, so if a 5 year deal nets you an extra few bucks you= should do it). So my gut tells me that after negotiations, you should hope to end up in th= e high 4 figures, perhaps just tipping into 5 figure territory. Set your st= arting price accordingly. Negotiations on price usually don't go back an fo= rth a ton. Expect about two rounds of price haggling. If they are seriously= interested they'll settle quick. If not, they'll just drop the whole thing= . That's just my two cents, for whatever it is worth. Not much for inflation. carey On Mar 21, 2014, at 9:57 PM, Rob Birnholz wro= te: > Also your material isn't just "stock footage". It's unique and you are gr= anting them an exclusive license.
