You can grab something pretty simple that is just used for looping
playback for relatively cheap.

You'll need to pick up an SD card as well to put your media on..
check their site for the proper type.
I haven't used one of these myself, mind you.. but I've had a few
clients over the past year or two who use these in retail and
convention/trade show environments to just load up and let run all
day. Apparently they're super easy to use.
As a big-box store goes.. you probably don't want to deal with any
physical media that could be swapped out or removed, or even just wear
out over time.. keeping it all digital will keep the issues to a
minimum, allow for packing the device in smaller enclosed areas, (i
don't think it has any heat issues at all) and going with a larger
company like Brightsign, will give the retailer peace of mind and
warranty back-up... They could probably also get a pretty good deal if
they contacted BrightSign's sales team and asked for a bulk order..
