much easier is just to right-click-drag the plugins to the plugins folder in AE CC, just as easy as on OSX.
Windows might tell you that you havnt rights to do shortcuts under a Program Files folder, but then just do them first to the desktop, then drag those shortcuts from the desktop to the plugin folder under CC. But remember to also do it for the Media Core folder that is shared with Premiere and AME.
I also keep CS6 around, just for one specific project, and the cases where i need to use DNxHD QT files with an embedded compressed alpha, that is one problem with AE CC that isn't fixed yet :-(
Other than that, i have a hard time going back to CS6, with all the nice new features :-)
