ok, so I made the jump to CC and now ready to transfer these plugins but not seeing it quite as straight forward as the link here indicated:  http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1263607

I don't really see this path:  Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/Media core

Now, if we are just saying, copy the plugin folder from it's normal location (PC) at the path below, I suppose easy enough. Just not sure.

Program files/adobe/after effects CS6/plugins

If so, then what?  Same with presets?

Does this sound right?

Windows might tell you that you havnt rights to do shortcuts under a Program Files folder, but then just do them first to the desktop, then drag those shortcuts from the desktop to the plugin folder under CC. But remember to also do it for the Media Core folder that is shared with Premiere and AME.

I also keep CS6 around, just for one specific project, and the cases where i need to use DNxHD QT files with an embedded compressed alpha, that is one problem with AE CC that isn't fixed yet :-(
Other than that, i have a hard time going back to CS6, with all the nice new features :-)

Yep! Me, too-- totally doable on PC. Tutorial here (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/278262-mklink-create-use-links-windows.html) for how to make links in Windows, however it's very much a techy thing; if you're not comfortable with what you're looking at, it's probably better to copy+paste the old fashion way :)

A more extreme use of this would be to have a directory on a cloud service (such as Dropbox) in which you have a folder each for your presets, plugins, scripts/scriptUI, and link the Dropbox folders to each of these. That way, all of your extensions are pre-synced on all your computers, and you only need to update one spot to have the same tools available everywhere. Pair this with linking the ModifiedWorkspaces/OriginalUserWorkspaces folders for AE (a bit more hidden and rather clunky/not 100% effective), and even your workspaces would be synced up everywhere.

If anyone's done this more advanced/more adeptly, would love to read a guide (though this is getting fairly OT for this thread).
