I doubt that the class is worth the price, but having different projects to cut with makes a big difference. Multiple takes of varying quality with tough choices, multiple cameras, sorting through tons of materials, integrating sound, titles, graphics, & effects doesn't come easy -- especially if you have no access to footage and related media.
I'm not aware of any books or online that teach hands-on editing very deeply. No doubt I missed them, but where are they?

Wow. That's ballsy. Considering used copies of In the Blink of an Eye revised second edition are running $2.50 on Amazon.
