It seems that the main things that depend(ed= ) on Java are...

- anything that depended on Flex<= /SPAN>

- the installers for CS6 (and earlier) softw= are

So, it seems that you can probably do withou= t Java on systems using current Adobe software, unless you're using Flex= or Flex-based applications.

I'll see what I can find out. I'm embarrasse= d to say that I don't know off the top of my head what in our suite of appl= ications depends on Java.

Sorry for the OT, but this does= relate to Adobe, sort of, and this is a great list to ask.

Every few weeks, I get asked= to update Java, especially on my Windows machine, and I always do--careful= ly, since I don't want to also install the deplorable Ask.com Toolbar. Toda= y, for the first time in a while, I wondered "why"?

A few years ago, I recall that= the Creative Suite still used Java for some important things, so we needed= to keep it. Is this still true? I don't really think I need Java for much= on the web.

Since Java is often a point = of security weakness, can I simply live without it?<= /P>

I look forward to your thoughts= ,

Brian
