So, it seems that you can probably do without Java on systems using current Adobe software, unless you're using Flex or Flex-based applications.

I'll see what I can find out. I'm embarrassed to say that I don't know off the top of my head what in our suite of applications depends on Java.

Sorry for the OT, but this does relate to Adobe, sort of, and this is a great list to ask.
 
Every few weeks, I get asked to update Java, especially on my Windows machine, and I always do--carefully, since I don't want to also install the deplorable Ask.comToolbar. Today, for the first time in a while, I wondered "why"?
 
A few years ago, I recall that the Creative Suite still used Java for some important things, so we needed to keep it. Is this still true? I don't really think I need Java for much on the web.
 
Since Java is often a point of security weakness, can I simply live without it?
