Hi Rosie,

I think the only way to really get that stop frame look is to hand animate it. however you can do a lot with Illustrator to make this easier.
I recommend using the Blob brush tool to draw the shapes on layers. you can then release the layers to a sequence for animating in After Effects. It will probably end up being quicker and more fun than trying to get a plug-in to re-create it and possibly not achieving what you want. Particular is fab of course and lots of fun but it’s not really designed for this kind of look. :-)

cheers,

Angie

hey fellas

I'm trying to figure out a way to make a cool cartoon puff of smoke
but avoid doing it frame by frame in photoshop.

I'm trying to achieve this type of effect

I think particular won't do and ae shapes give too symmetrical results
for this type of animation.

any workflow suggestions?

or do I have to resort to frame by frame in flash or photoshop?
(which from my research is the preferred technique for this type of animation)

Thanks
