Hey Brian.M for the sake of better understanding
(because I will resort to frame by frame seems the best course of action)
 about the radiowaves effect it seems it doesn't have a fill or am I wrong?
i.e it only
allows the duplication of the contours but not the inside. (guess otherwise
it would be a particle system)
so I would get empty puffs I guess..
