Correct, no fill per se, but you can change the contour style and adju= st the width of the stroke to get a pseudo-colored-in effect.

Hey Brian.M for the sake of better understanding
(because I will resort to frame by frame seems the best course of acti= on)
about the radiowaves effect it seems it doesn't have a fill or= am I wrong? i.e it only
allows the duplication of the contours but not the inside. (guess othe= rwise it would be a particle system)
so I would get empty puffs I guess..

Subject: [AE] cartoon smoke puff effect

hey fellas=20

I'm trying to figure out a way to make a cool cartoon puff of smoke
but avoid doing it frame by frame in photoshop.

I'm trying to achieve this type of effect

I think particular won't do and ae shapes give too symmetrical results=
for this type of animation.

any workflow suggestions?

or do I have to resort to frame by frame in flash or photoshop?
(which from my research is the preferred technique for this type of= animation)

Thanks
