Hi Roei,

I did one by first drawing a few small puffs and then animating a really small puff with those 3-4 hand drawn puff shapes.

I then pre-comped that animation and copied it many times but with different rotations and timings so it doesn’t look symmetrical.

It’s a bit different in style, but you can have a look here at 00:51:

I was playing around with timing and opacity to get the look I wanted.

Kind Regards,

Anders Sundstedt

Subject: [AE] cartoon smoke puff effect

hey fellas

I'm trying to figure out a way to make a cool cartoon puff of smoke
but avoid doing it frame by frame in photoshop.

I'm trying to achieve this type of effect

I think particular won't do and ae shapes give too symmetrical results
for this type of animation.

any workflow suggestions?

or do I have to resort to frame by frame in flash or photoshop?
(which from my research is the preferred technique for this type of animation)

Thanks
