It was pretty daunting as there is so little information out there on how to 'get into' ExtendScript, but David Torno's tutorial series gave me the confidence to give it a go, and ultimately I achieved what I set out to do. I'm so glad I did - since learning how to script in After Effects, I keep finding ways to use it to automate repetitive/boring tasks, and my reason for writing this message is purely to encourage anyone who's thought about learning how to write scripts to go ahead and give it a go - you'll be glad you did! It's one of those things I wish I'd learned years ago - I could have saved countless hours of time over the years if I'd known how to write scripts in AE. One thing I would say though, is that I have a web programming background, and therefore found it easy to write code in the Javascript-based ExtendScript. If you have no programming experience it probably would be a bit of a leap to learn from scratch. But if you're comfortable with programming I'm sure you'll find it quite straightforward. You can find links to David's ExtendScript series on his blog here: http://aeioweyou.blogspot.co.uk/ (And if you're not comfortable with programming, http://aescripts.com/ is the place to go for scripts that other people have written to achieve all kinds of useful things!)
