Ha.  I was just about to ask how you calibrate it for 709, etc.

I have the HP DreamColor display, and it only goes into "Deep Color" mode when fed a 60Hz signal thru DisplayPort or HDMI 1.2.  The way you get it to play other frame rates (like 23.976) is to put a converter, like the AJA HDP2 between your video card's SDI out and the HDMI to Displayport cable… and wondering what the analogous options are for this display.

I also have a question about how Adobe Ae and Pr handle color spaces when using the computer's HDMI outputs without a converter box.  If it's Full RGB, that's not very useful for broadcast work, right?

Robert, I will be the first to say it isn't a reference monitor but any means.  When I do some more advanced calibration I will report back.  I can say that it is a fairly decent display though just by sight calibration.  I'm just impressed that it is the first UHD display that does true 60Hz in that price range and isn't junk! :)  Even more impressed my lowly tower mac pro will drive it at 60Hz.

After using it has a desktop monitor, I would not want a UHD display that is any smaller.  The type is pretty small, but nice to have that much real-estate!

hmmm... just did a google on this model, and it says its a TN panel and not IPS, so i would definately not recommend it for anything colorwise.

But nice to see UHD monitors getting down in price, but it will take a little while longer to get IPS or similar quality UHD panels down in price.

Good find, I am in the market. How is the color gamut?

In case anyone is looking for a UHD/4K monitor for a mac that won't break the bank, check out the new Samsung U28D590D(~$600).  It is a true 60Hz 3840x2160 display.  I am using it with a GTX680 card in a MP tower (10.9.2) without a problem.   You card must have displayport to get the 60hz refresh rate.  Makes a great AE monitor with LOTS of screen space, although your sight has to be pretty good to see the text at that resolution. :)

Anyway, I thought I would pass this along if anyone is in the market for such a screen but didn't want to pay the $3k most are going for.
