There's a 7-day grace period, if you've come up on the 30-day license check.

I can imagine scenarios where there are long internet outages, but wonder if there would even be electricity in those cases.

This is the situation why I didn't change to CC (yet?). I think this is the problem what all of the sceptics were afraid of. :(
