Thanks for the tips, but its not really what Im asking

I just wanted premiere to act more like Ae (in many way actu= ally). It just seems like such an achaic way to work: move clip with no fee= dback in the viewer and release clip to see it update, no not the exact spo= t i want, then grab again move a bit more release, no, grab, move, release.= ...etc etc

Was hoping i was overlooking something simple. But guess not= :-(

The keyboard shortcuts work as i expect,=C2=A0 so I will use= that, but when moving clips larger distances its much faster to use the wa= com to drag.

Thanks for the feedback :-)

Sorry, I misread the OP.

However, if you double click a Sequence clip, it will load the clip in= to the Source tab, similar to the Layer tab in Ae, and you can move the in-= out points around the same way you can in Ae. =C2=A0And likewise, you can d= o track "slipping" like you can in Ae as well. =C2=A0You can grab= the selection by hovering your mouse over the center of the area selected,= and move the in-outs back and forth while seeing the head and tail frames = in a trim mode display.

That may not be what Robert wanted either.

A l= ot of it depends on your source codec. =C2=A0If you're using Long-GOP 1= 080 footage, you may be dragging your CTI faster than your CPU can decode t= he frames. =C2=A0If you use an intraframe codec like ProRes and a fast enou= gh drive, you should see every frame as you drag your CTI back and forth.

This is a = simple Premiere question, but thought maybe the Premiere users on this list= would know if this is possibe.
=C2=A0
Isn't it possible to have premiere display the current playhead frame w= hile dragging a clip in the timeline, just like it works in AE?=C2=A0
It does show an update if you use the keyboard shortcut to move a clip in t= ime (Alt+arrowleft/right) but not when useing a wacom/mouse to do it, then = Premiere just shows a black output while dragging the a clip.=C2=A0<= u>
=C2=A0
Is there some hidden setting i cant find, or is it just this way Premiere (= and most other editing apps) works?
