We are certainly making Adobe Media Encoder the application to use for creating final deliverable files, but we're still
putting a lot of effort into pipeline and automation features in the After Effects render queue---as evidenced by the output file name and location templates in After Effects CC (12.2) and the scripting improvements for render settings and output module settings. Long-term, we'd like to keep all of the functionality that the After Effects render queue provides now but have it send
certain work to Adobe Media Encoder as appropriate. From: After
