Subject: [AE] new email address, steveoakley.net domain being held hostage

If any of you have sent me email to my 12 year old email address steveo@practicali.com over the last 2 weeks, I never got it. I nearly missed a day of work this week over the problem. please use my new email address steveo@practicalillusions.com and remove the old one.

now let me explain why and whats going on :

my ex business partner ( whom you may of met @ MMB ) went and registered some of my domains against my wishes as a "favor" a couple years ago. It was all well and good while things where running ok. for many years they where ok. about six months ago when I decided some changes had to happen. Initially those changes where simply to cut office expenses nearly in 1/2 which was good.

Eventually a few months ago it became apparent that the best thing to do was to part company. I did the office move out for many reasons including perhaps the most basic : it was costing me money,  not making me money ! never mind the office environment simply wasn't good for my mental health or doing quality work. It was also a reflection of the very changing nature of where my work is going, quite literally all over the state. Its lots of location work doing shooting / sound / lighting. editing clients were all working remotely with web previews / FTP / webex / iChat ect and just not coming into the office. why should they when there are more convenient ways of working ?  Needless to say my "ex" didn't take things so well, especially over the last month or so when I moved out of the office and decided I no longer wanted to work a business together. I had been back and forth on that right up until I finally told him. I did in fact do right by the landlord properly breaking my part of the lease, paid a penalty, I was out on time , new tenant took my space the next day, and we are all ok.
