This will do it--

fadeDur = 12; // How many frames?
linear (time, outPoint - framesToTime(fadeDur), outPoint, 100, 0);

Change 'linear' to 'ease' for full easy ease or 'easeIn' or 'easeOut' as desired.

I'm hopeless.  Can somebody help me with an expression that will fade out the layer depending on it's out point?  IOW, no matter how long I make a layer, it will fade out at the out point, using a duration of 12 frames.

Thank you.
