thank you Rick it makes sense to load up a dark gray solid with noise - I will try that next time

what do you mean by "do hold outs if there are reflections"
and also your last response saying "use Mocha to track and extract the reflections by blend modes from the original screen"

doesn't just putting the replaced image on top with "screen" do the trick?

Mocha is a planar tracker. The tracking dots don’t do anything but add some detail to the screen. They are basically useless unless there is absolutely no detail on the screen. That is why I add some dark noise to a dark gray, nearly black image and load it up on the phone screen. The noise makes things track well and the reflections show up from the shiny glass. You have to do hold outs if there are reflections, but Mocha will do a great job of tracking and replacing the screen on a smart phone if you just take a little care when shooting.
